MCC of Paducah Photo Shoot- NOV 10TH

METROPOLITAN COMMUNITY CHURCH OF PADUCAH
 MCC of Paducah Photo Shoot
 Saturday, November 10, 2012.
MCC is hosting their 1st annual photo shoot. Color Craft Studios will be taking photos by appointment. For $5.00 you will receive a 10x13 professional portrait. Bring your family, friends or pet. You can make an appointment by stopping by the church on Sunday between 9:30 am 12:30pm or calling Kim at 270-994-5379.
THERE are different packages you can order with different size of photos - I have seen the photography these people do and it is very, very good. This is a fund raiser for the church. The Church will receive the $5.00 and the photographer’s receive the money for packages ordered. You will receive proofs to choose your photos from just as with any photo shoot. So if you have NEW FAMILY MEMBERS or you haven't had any RECENT PHOTOS, this is a GREAT time to do it.
The packages will be in by Christmas so they will make GREAT CHRISTMAS PRESENTS.
This is a win, win situation - you help out a local church, you get fabulous pictures at a VERY REASONABLE PRICE and you solve your Christmas present problem of what to get for people. You and your family’s smiling faces would make an AWESOME gift. If you have questions you can call me at 502-551-3969 or e-mail me at jtina.oliver@hotmail.com or you can call the number Kim has posted above.

LGBT History Month: A Reception to Recognize Rodney Wilson- October 20th 2-4 pm

The History of LGBT History Month: A Reception to Recognize Rodney Wilson.
via St. Louis Gay History Project · By Steven Brawley

(ST LOUIS)   October 20th 2-4 pm   @ The LGBT Center of St. Louis
The St. Louis LGBT History Project is proud to honor and recognize Rodney Wilson - founder of the now annual LGBT History Month hosted nationwide every October. Rodney spearheaded the creation of LGBT History Month back in 1994 when he was a teacher at Mehlville High School. Join us at a special reception and hear Rodney talk about how the idea came about.

October was chosen by Wilson as the month for the celebration because National Coming Out Day already was established as a widely known event, on October 11, and October commemorated the first march on Washington by LGBT people in 1979. LGBT History Month is intended to encourage honesty and openness about being lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.

HIV 101: The Basics of HIV and AIDS (OCT 21ST)

HIV 101: The Basics of HIV and AIDS
via Stephen Houldsworth and Sarah Rose

(ST. LOUIS)
Presented as part of the St. Louis Free School, which offers free classes and workshops for the St. Louis community.  HIV 101 provides an overview of the history, politics, prevention, and treatment of HIV disease. 1.2 million US residents are living with the HIV virus, and approximately 56,000 new people will contract the virus this year in the United States. In the St. Louis area, more than 7,000 people are HIV-positive. The most common vectors for HIV transmission are sex and injectible drugs. The taboos around accurate information about sex and drugs have contributed greatly to the spread of misinformation about HIV and AIDS. This class will provide you with accurate information about the disease so that you can become a force for change in overcoming the stigma associated with HIV and AIDS.

3rd Annual National Coming Out Day Candlelight March, October 11th
(BELLEVILLE)
Join Metro East Pride of Southwestern Illinois (MEPSI) for the 3rd Annual National Coming Out Day Candlelight March on, October 11th.

We will be meeting at the Belleville Carnegie Library (121 East Washington) at 6:30 p.m. to step off and walk over to Historic Main St. – and then down Main, across the square , ending at Club Escapade @ West Main and 2nd Streets.

Join us as we light the night with pride and visibility. We also recognize that bigotry exists and there are those who cannot join us. We honor and represent them – as well as the countless thousands who have been victims of anti-gay violence in the face of visibility.

Brief remarks by area community leaders will be given prior to step off.

Founded in 1988 by Robert Eichberg, National Coming Out Day (NCOD) is an internationally observed civil awareness day celebrating individuals who publicly identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender —coming out regarding one's sexual orientation and/or gender identity being akin to a cultural rite of passage for LGBT people. The holiday is observed annually by members of the gay community on October 11.

We know money is tight for everyone, so that's why we always try and have some of the lowest drink prices around in addition to our Bad Dog Grill, you can always get a great meal at a great price!
We are very much looking forward to so many events planned at the Bad Dog over the coming months and already have plans in place for our Thanksgiving and Christmas Potlucks for those that don't have someplace to go on the holidays or just want to escape family! The Midwest Leather Weekend is coming the first weekend of October, so if you have never visited the Bad Dog, maybe it's time!
