Are you interested in the history of St. Louis and its lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities? Do you enjoy hearing elders' stories and reflections and learning from them? Are you an attentive and thoughtful listener? Then we need your help! The St. Louis LGBT History Project is seeking volunteers to conduct oral history interviews. An oral history is a carefully planned interview, normally several hours long, that attempts to turn a person's memories into a rich and revealing historical document.
The St. Louis LGBT History Project plans to record the oral histories of many of the people who have helped shape queer St. Louis, from the edge of living memory to the present. If you are interested in being a volunteer oral history interviewer, please let us know. All interviewers must complete a training session that will address oral history theory and interviewing techniques and will review local and national queer history.
